The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer is blanketing the town of Fort Wayne, Indiana with pink ribbons during the month of May, and today is the town’s official “Wear Pink to Work Day.” In addition, Mayor Tom Henry will be making a proclamation at TinCaps Stadium at 6:30 PM this evening, right before the TinCaps “PINK” game.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Tomorrow at 6:30 there will be a free concert at Jefferson Pointe featuring the band Urban Legend.

The foundation offered memorial pink ribbons as a “visual reminder of what everyone can do to help raise breast cancer awareness.” Those who make a $5 donation had their ribbon placed somewhere in Fort Wayne on May 14th.

Executive Director of the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, Catherine Hill, reports that they have already raised $10 million for breast cancer research.

“Vera Bradley contributed 10% of the net proceeds from our breast cancer awareness color Hope Garden to the Foundation in 2009. In addition, the company underwrites Foundation staff salaries and company resources like creative marketing and product development expertise administrative time, and employee volunteer hours are contributed in-kind. In all, Vera Bradley gave more than $1.3 million to the Foundation in 2009. What a remarkable statement about Vera Bradley’s genuine commitment to a healthy future for our families, friends and customers.”
